Time to upgrade your binoculars? Check out the Eagle Optics Rangers 8×42 from Eagle Optics.

At first look, they look like wanna be Swarovski’s. However, Eagle Optics is known for putting affordable yet quality binoculars on the optics table, and the ED Rangers are no exception. Pricing at about $479, this pair of binoculars is a great upgrade from older Rangers or from binoculars like Vortex Diamondbacks and other optics in that range.

Features: The ED Rangers come with a large arsenal of optical features, as well as thought out design and construction features. The open hinge design allows for a firm grip around the entire binocular tubes, resulting in a better grip than with standard design binoculars.

Weighing in at only 27.4 ounces, these binoculars are a great companion if your looking for lightweight yet powerful and clear optics.

The optics tubes themselves seem a little long and are a tiny bit harder to handle then regular binoculars. There are very few cons about these bins, they get great reviews from birders all over the world.

The Rangers come with ED glass, which means they are extra low dispersion, resulting in a brighter eye piece for a clearer picture.

Being completely waterproof and fog-proof, the Rangers are ready for any environment you might bring them into. Whether your birding in a Cloud Forest in Costa Rica or in snowy mountains in Alaska.

Also, check out the Vortex Optics Talon HD. This pair of binoculars has the exact same specs as the Rangers and is priced about the same. Whether you like the Vortex binoculars better or the Eagle Optics, they are always a reliable pair to have in the field.

Both brands of optics make this pair in 8×32, 8×42, and even 10×42.

Happy birding everyone!
